This part-time course, on the Leading Edge Teacher CPD scheme, offers the opportunity for professional development and academic study for teachers and other education professionals working within schools, colleges and related educational settings in a leadership or management role.

This programme was developed in consultation with experienced school leaders, local authority representatives and academic staff. It has been specifically designed to support the professional development of a wide spectrum of teachers, ranging from those preparing for their first leadership role through to those preparing for or already occupying a senior leadership role. Modules have been designed to place participants at the forefront of new and exciting developments in school leadership, focusing on areas such as coaching, consultancy and action research methodology.

Demands on teachers' time and the pressures of work/life balance mean that teachers are often obliged to choose between academic programmes of advanced study and professional courses. This programme offers the opportunity, via an assessment-only route, to gain academic credit towards a Masters degree, and credit from these modules as well as taught modules can be put towards a Postgraduate Diploma (120 credit points) or a Masters degree (180 credit points).
