About Your Course
MSc Marketing provides you with a programme of advanced and challenging study in the marketing field and allows you to build upon a range of existing (predominantly BA level) qualifications and experience. It permits successful students with prior marketing (and business) experience to enhance their careers in marketing and also facilitates the early contribution by successful students without prior marketing experience in marketing roles gained on completion of the programme.

The course provides you with both the required academic context and an understanding of the application of relevant concepts and theories. Opportunities exist to undertake live consultancy projects for regional organisations, allowing the honing of skills and knowledge in addition to the enhancement of your CV. Applicants holding the CIM Professional Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma qualifications may claim exemption and/or be given accredited prior learning from elements of the course, as appropriate.

Programme Specification
Assessment
The range of assessment methods includes individual and group coursework assignments, group presentations and time constrained examinations. These methods reflect some of the situations faced in work situations, including the need to provide secondary and primary research in support of marketing decisions, presentations to customers and other stakeholders, working in teams and meeting time constrained deadlines. Group presentations will include the need for individual elements and may include peer assessment as part of the overall grading. The Dissertation provides the significant opportunity for independent learning.
Teaching & Learning
Teaching and learning methods will include tutor led presentations, group discussion and will include appropriate use of communications and information technology. Students will make full use of the facilities available via the Learning Centre in order to support their learning and assessment needs.

A mixture of group and individual assessments will be utilised. Students will be encouraged to become independent and reflective learners with the dissertation providing the significant opportunity for these learning aspects to be fully demonstrated.

Future Career
The course recruits worldwide and, typically, brings together students from Europe, the Indian sub-continent and Asia. You will be taken out of your existing cultural 'comfort zones' and be encouraged to re-evaluate your assumptions as to how marketing operates.
